Long Last Look

Sitting in a bar in this dusty old town
Waiting for the sun to go down
Me oh my, time passes slow
When you got no money and no place to go
I’m looking at Suzie, she’s looking at me
She sees the same things that I see
Lonely people living on dreams
Suzie this leaving can’t be as hard as it seems
There’s no percentage in us hanging around
We both know we gotta leave this town
There’ll be no turning back for old times sake
So Suzie, is there something you would like to take?
She said “A long last look, a long last look
I'll take a long last look before we go”
Got me a job in a hardware store
They gave me a room on the second floor
It didn’t pay much, just enough to get by
With a little left over to get me high
But all in all I was doing alright
Till her daddy came round and we started to fight
Now I’m out of a job and I’m out on the street
Down on my luck but I’m not down on my knees
Let’s take a long last look, a long last look
Let's take a long last look before we go
Suzie before we go...
Throw my guitar in the pickup truck
Head off south to try to change our luck
We could be gone by the time the sun goes down
Before your daddy thinks to come around
Hey Little Suzie what do you think about that?
Maybe this leaving might be where it’s at?
I ain’t got much that I can call my own
But I’ve got a heart so Suzie you’ve got a home
Let’s raise a glass to everyone we know
Let's drink a toast to them before we go
Let's take a long last look, a long last look
Let’s take a long last look before we go
